SAM Consultant

Main tasks 

• Consulting, implementation or development of strategic processes, projects, technologies, and services within the area of Corporate Software Asset Management (SAM) of medium to high complexity*, incl. integrated sub-processes 

• Provide SAM services to Fresenius Group by conducting activities in line with given process landscapes and regulations 

• Collaboratively develop and continuous improvement of strategic and operational SAM topics, incl. organization, process and methodology improvements and efficiencies 

• Operationally support SAM projects including preparation of cost estimates for process and technology-related sub-projects and services   

• Regular proactive communication with stakeholders, including higher levels, at eye level 

• Perform the preparation of reports and other deliverables 

• Collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders in international business contexts including virtual teams 

• Primary role for SAM tooling 

• Responsible for SAM tooling (design solution, set-up, implementation, availability, functionality, support), including related management of provider activities and tool licensing   

• Further implementation of required tools and interfaces to ensure inventories  

• Conceptualization, development and implementation of processes and measures connected to SAM tooling and Data Collection in close operation with other SAM professionals 

• Continuously assess and improve data quality and completeness 

• Technical leadership and responsibility in a specialty area, as assigned by the Manager   

• Second and third level support with the process and technology-related issues 

• Risk assessments in his area of responsibility and implementation or suggestion of appropriate countermeasures  

·       Tool configuration, Optimization, Manage entitlements, Run reconciliation

·       Establish normalization rules, Manage Normalized Software & Unmatched

·       Define custom rules, Content service, Manage SW catalogues

·       Manage product families, classes, recognized & unrecognized software

·       Integration with existing systems, reporting, data collection, tool operations

SW demand and licensing management

• SW demand management and consolidation for the defined software providers 

• Operationally support SAM projects and software license audits 

• Execution and/or supervision of the realization of concepts, and installation of operational measures for quality assurance 

• Perform tasks and projects for establishing efficient license management 

• Analyze software installation and consumption data 

• Process and review of software license entitlement and contracts 

• Create license balances and assess license compliance situation 

• Proactively support and coordinate risk management activities  

• Report commercial risk and/or cost-saving opportunities 

·       Solid industry knowledge of software licensing across a number of vendors (VMware, Citrix, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Adobe, etc.);

• Working knowledge of ITIL v3 and ISO 19770;

• IT Software Contract negotiation experience

• Experience in licensing in SaaS, PaaS, IaaS in public/hybrid cloud environment

Over 6+ years of total experience as a result-oriented professional in Software Asset Management (SAM) & SLC Audits, ISO27001 Certified, Certified AWS Cloud Practitioner, Conducting SAM Workshops, Process Workflows, Software Licensing, ELP Creation, Microsoft Operations, Key Account Management, Request Management, Vendor Management and Consulting
