Your assignments


Functional Goal:

The Director for Tender Excellence EU and RoW is responsible to develop, implement, and maintain a robust tender approval offer and process that ensures alignment with corporate strategy, maximizes business opportunities, and sustains competitive position, thus contributing significantly to the company's revenue and market share.

Main Tasks:

To take responsibility for defining and implementing activities to deliver and maximise tender efficacy and excellence, to include, but not limited:

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the tender approval process
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures related to tendering activities
  • Develop innovative pricing solutions, based on market needs and tender scoring criteria
  • Lead the internal tender pricing committee
  • Ensure the tendering process aligns with corporate strategy and compliance requirements
  • Oversee the entire tender lifecycle from identification to submission and post-submission follow-up
  • Monitor tender statuses and ensure timely submission of bids
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop non-price related competitive messages and/or offerings for tenders
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for tender proposals
  • Review and approve or reject tender proposals based on alignment with strategic objectives
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for tender activities
  • Provide regular reports on tender performance, highlighting successes, areas for improvement, and market trends
  • Ensure ‘Best Practice’ sharing across all tender markets
  • Conduct post-tender reviews and analyze outcomes to refine future strategies
  • Monitor and analyze market prices to ensure competitive tender submissions
  • Evaluate and adjust pricing strategies based on market conditions and corporate objectives
  • Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking to understand market positioning and inform tender strategies
  • Make informed decisions on tender bids, ensuring they align with corporate strategy and profitability goals
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with tender submissions, including financial, operational, and legal risks
  • Develop strategies & tools to monitor tender performance, whilst ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and tender obligations
  • Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services for tenders
  • Coordinate and represent BU Biopharma EU & RoW on Tender Excellence related initiatives initiated by the Global/Corporate Commercial Excellence team

Other Tasks:

  • Control of costs to meet plans as agreed with the Vice President

Your profile

  • University degree in science and/or business, MBA
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in tender management, procurement, or a related role
  • Proven track record of managing and winning significant tenders, preferably within a similar industry
  • Proven track record in developing innovatice pricing solutions
  • Strong understanding of tendering processes and best practices
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and pricing strategies
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in using tender management software and tools
  • Biosimilar experience a plus
  • Leadership skills including the ability to lead cross-functionally and cross-geography
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to deal with complexity and translate insights and conceptual ideas into strategies
  • Goal driven mindset with clear metric driven process map
  • Always seeking new approaches to internal and external challenges
  • Fluency in english; german and/or french would be beneficial
  • Regular business travel will be required (circa 50% of time, planned travel)
