Position Overview
The Director IT Finance & Performance Management is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining and executing the financial and performance management framework for the IT organization. This role ensures alignment with corporate finance governance, policies, and strategic objectives, while driving financial transparency, control, and value creation across IT.
The Director acts as a key advisor to the CIO and IT Leadership Team on budgeting and financial planning, and serves as a critical interface to Corporate Controlling and Group IT. The role also leads the implementation of IT cost management frameworks such as TBM (Technology Business Management) and is responsible for establishing a mid-term IT budget planning framework (3–5 years horizon).
In addition to financial oversight, the role is accountable for IT performance management within the governance function, including the availability and quality of dashboards and performance reporting tools. The position leads a small team of Finance & Performance Analysts, and plays a key role in fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and organizational maturity in financial and performance management practices.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic
Develop and implement long-term financial and performance strategies for IT, aligned with overall IT and corporate objectives.
Establish and manage a mid-term IT financial planning framework (3–5 years), ensuring alignment with strategic IT and business goals.
Provide strategic financial advice to the CIO and IT Leadership Team to support decision-making and value realization.
Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track IT financial health and operational performance.
Drive the maturation of financial and performance management capabilities, embedding best practices and scalable processes across the IT organization.
Tactical
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of IT cost management frameworks such as TBM.
Drive financial and performance process improvement initiatives across the IT organization.
Design and enforce financial control mechanisms to ensure compliance and asset protection.
Collaborate closely with Corporate Controlling and Group IT to ensure alignment of financial and performance reporting standards.
Operational
Oversee IT budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, including headcount and capital expenditure planning.
Deliver financial insights and scenario planning to support strategic IT initiatives.
Ensure the availability, accuracy, and relevance of dashboards and performance reporting tools for IT governance.
Manage financial integration for IT acquisitions and service transitions.
Leadership
Lead and develop a team of Finance & Performance Analysts, providing mentorship, direction, and performance management.
Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning within the team and across the IT finance function.
Champion modern ways of working, including agile financial planning, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration.
Act as a subject matter expert in IT financial and performance management, contributing to the evolution of best practices across the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Familiarity with IT environments and financial management principles.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in Controlling, Financial Planning & Analysis, and IT cost management.
Hands-on experience with Technology Business Management (TBM) or similar IT cost transparency frameworks.
Experience in IT performance management and dashboard/reporting tool implementation.
At least 2 years of experience advising executive-level stakeholders.
Experience in the Pharma, Life Sciences, or Healthcare industry is preferred.
Proven success in navigating complex, global matrix organizations.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of financial frameworks, controlling practices, and performance management tools.
Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and performance analysis.
Familiarity with dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or FRM are a plus.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Ability to work effectively across cultures, time zones, and remote teams.
