Network Engineer Checkpoint SME (m/f/d)

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced Network Engineer with a strong customer and team orientation who ensures stable, highly available and compliant operation as well as the continuous development of the company-wide Check Point firewall and security infrastructure.

You will be responsible for securing network transitions, implementing security policies and integrating firewalls into existing network, monitoring and operating processes.

Your responsibilities:

• Ensuring the smooth, secure and highly available operation of the Check Point Firewall infrastructure (on-prem, virtual if necessary and close to the cloud)

• Further development of the firewall architecture taking into account security, compliance and corporate policies

• Responsibility for the network transitions (perimeter, DMZ, inter-VLAN) based on Check Point Security Gateways

• Maintenance and further development of security policies, NAT rules and VPN structures

• Ensure stable interaction between firewall, LAN and adjacent security components

• Management and technical coordination of external service providers in the firewall and security environment

• Operation, maintenance and use of company-wide monitoring and logging solutions (e.g. Check Point SmartEvent, log servers, SIEM connections)

• Ensure complete documentation, versioning, and backup of Check Point configurations

• Independent processing of incidents, changes and service requests in first- and second-level support with a focus on firewall / security

• Analysis and rectification of faults including troubleshooting at package, session and policy level

• Independent documentation of work results as well as use and maintenance of knowledge management platforms

• Participation in the standardization and automation of operational processes in firewall and security operations

Your qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field

• At least 5 years of professional experience in network topologies and in the administration of Check Point firewalls (security gateways, management, policies, VPN)

• Knowledge of related network environments (e.g., Cisco, Aruba) is an advantage

• Check Point certifications (e.g., CCSA, CCSE)

• Project experience in firewall rollouts, migrations, or security optimizations

• Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving abilities

• High degree of personal responsibility and reliability as well as a structured, documentation-oriented work style

• Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
