Your career development

We focus on constant growth. Including our employees’ professional development.

At Fresenius, your development is a matter of growth: our philosophy revolves around the principle of life-long learning. As a result, our employees’ professional development and further education is not something that ends with a university exam or a certificate from a vocational program. On the contrary: that’s when learning really begins.

When it comes to on-the-job training, our corporate culture of “the entrepreneur in an enterprise” opens up exciting challenges, giving you many opportunities to take matters into your own hands and the chance to assume responsibility early on – in other words, providing you all kinds of ways to further yourself.

To make sure you can confidently and competently approach all of the professional challenges you encounter, you can also benefit from helpful off-the-job measures: training, coaching, mentoring and exchanging information with colleagues in transition groups. There are numerous choices available to you depending on the department, target group, region and phase of your career. Here you can find a brief overview.

Career counseling

Are you looking for a new challenge? Or do you want to refine your competence? We offer expert career counseling to experienced colleagues who want to strike out in a new direction, professionally speaking.

Training and professional development

You never stop learning: in all of our departments, our employees have professional development opportunities such as specialized coursework or social-skill training held by experienced external trainers and coaches.

Management development program

Since our executives are often confronted with new challenges, we provide them with a broad spectrum of ways to grow into their new role by offering mentorship, coaching and leadership curricula. Top-notch trainers and coaches work with them on topics such as managing people, time, projects, processes and conflicts.

Onboarding

New Fresenius employees can look forward to a structured process of intense on-the-job training which is customized to the needs of each department and site.  This includes “Welcome to Fresenius” – a company-wide event which new employees are invited to. Colleagues from individual subsidiaries present the work at their respective departments so new members of the Fresenius family can have a first glance at the different areas in which our health-care company is active. They get to know other colleagues who also recently started working at Fresenius.

There’s more to the Fresenius onboarding program, however: several different introductory programs as well as seminars and training courses offer our new employees valuable support as they start out at our company. Furthermore, in certain departments your supervisor may arrange for a colleague to serve as the contact person for technical and organizational questions while you undergo on-the-job training.

Fresenius Career Starters
Our development program for rising young professionals offers multiple training modules on topics such as social skills, communication or cooperation, providing people assistance at the beginning of their professional lives as they successfully launch their careers. You will not only benefit from newly acquired knowledge, you also have the opportunity to network with other participants or come into contact with department heads from the company.

Trainee programs
At Fresenius, young professionals have several trainee programs to choose from. You can find further information here.

Project management
The focus of this program is developing the project-management skills of our employees.

HELIOS women´s mentoring program
In 2009, Fresenius Helios launched the women’s mentoring network, the goal of which is to promote and support young female physicians. Chief physicians and attending physicians in particular contribute by sharing their expertise from a technical and personal perspective.

Networking opportunities
On the first Thursday of the month, you can join the other interns at the “Intern Lunch” at the company cafeteria in Bad Homburg. Beyond that, Fresenius also organizes an after-work event in the Rhine-Main region approximately once every other month so you can network with other interns.

Trainee programs
Fresenius offers different trainee programs for graduates. You can find further information here.

Fresenius Alumni (Bad Homburg site)
Interns who have received an excellent recommendation are included in our “Fresenius Alumni” career network after their internship. By taking part, you have the opportunity to present yourself with a compelling professional profile and stay up-to-date about suitable job offers at Fresenius ― or perhaps even be approached directly by a department about an appropriate position.
Furthermore, Fresenius Alumni also shares interesting and exclusive offers, such as invitations to career events and training, notifications about job openings, and much more.

Programs for apprentices

We offer our apprentices a wide range of ways to obtain further qualifications -- everything from computer courses to presentation-skill training all the way to in-house lessons. You can find further information here.
