What does an internship on the Employer Branding Team entail, and what does a typical day look like? Those were exactly the questions I had before I started. Now, I'm right in the thick of it, working on lots of exciting projects.
Employer branding encompasses internal and external communications related to the employer brand—that is, everything that makes a company visible and recognizable as an employer. Internships can be as varied as the interns themselves. Those with specific interests or who want to focus on certain areas are given the opportunity to work in those areas. For me, that's clearly social media. Here's a glimpse into a day in my life, though there's no such thing as a typical day. Enjoy reading! Yours, Lisa
I usually start the morning by looking at our editorial schedule. What's on the agenda for today? Which articles still need to be prepared? Then, I check my emails, work through my to-do list, and organize my day. This is the perfect way for me to start the day in a structured manner with a clear head.
Our social media team from Employer Branding meets once a week. We plan, brainstorm, and discuss—and sometimes we even have a good laugh! What's coming up? What still needs to be revised? What might be a good idea for later? We discuss current topics, plan new projects, and gather fresh content ideas.
At lunchtime, we all go to the cafeteria together. What's my favorite thing? Definitely the salad bar! The team break gives us a chance to take a break from our screens and chat in a relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes we talk about work and sometimes we talk about anything else. Having lunch together definitely makes team day my favorite day of the week.
At the beginning of each month, social media reporting is on the agenda. I track our KPIs and analyze what went well and what didn't. These insights help us view our content more objectively. This also includes looking outside the company. What are others doing, and why does it work for them - or not? I record all of these findings in my report and present them to the social media team.
WID Talk is our small team exchange for working students, interns and dual students. Here, we openly discuss topics that concern us, both professionally and personally.
A coffee break is a must! At the Barista Bar, Yama, our barista, makes me a delicious cappuccino with oat milk. I often meet former dual students from my department here. We chat, exchange ideas, and get an energy boost for the final push.
After the break, it's time to get creative! I schedule creative tasks for the late afternoon on purpose. The analytical topics are finished, and I have a clearer head. I work on image and video editing, graphic design, and brainstorming new content ideas for our channels.
Finally, take a quick look at tomorrow: What appointments are coming up? What tasks need to be completed? Then everything is ready for the next day and it's time to call it a day – that's a wrap!
