Fresenius Holding | Bad Homburg, Germany | Strategic Finance & Controlling
I am Director Performance Controlling in the Strategic Finance & Controlling department at Fresenius. Our team is based at the Group headquarters in Bad Homburg and is responsible for financial management at Group level. We support the segments with analyses, benchmarks and business models to make fact-based and future-oriented decisions.
My focus is on strategic financial management, management reporting and the development of target and business models. I work particularly intensively on planning and reporting processes, business performance management and our ELEVATE transformation to SAP S/4HANA as a business process owner for the controlling workstream.
I'm something of a process tourist, because I also love traveling so much: I want to see, try and understand everything – that's the only way I know where the real hotspots are and where the construction sites are. Without a round trip there is no overview, without an overview no good decisions.
I would like to slip into the role of investor relations. Direct communication with the capital market and the translation of complex internal figures into clear external messages sounds like an exciting challenge and would create an even better understanding of further cooperation.
Definitely 🤯 – mostly when I'm digging through complex data, processes, or transformation topics. But I love these “mind blown” moments because they often lead to the best “aha” moments and solutions.
More clarity, fewer slides: Numbers only have an effect when the story behind them is simple and understandable.
My noise-cancelling headphones – they are my door opener into the flow tunnel. In the open-plan office, they help me to completely block out what is happening around me, and with the right music, I find my way into this productive state in which analyses suddenly arise almost by themselves. Numbers + beats = best results.
One of my favorite moments was creating and hosting the group-wide Finance Onboarding Days. There, we provide new hires and interested colleagues with exciting insights into our finance functions at the group and segment levels. What makes this project special is that it's not only about knowledge, but also about networking. Seeing new connections and a shared understanding develop as a result makes this project particularly valuable to me.
“In controlling, everything revolves around Excel.” Agreed! But it is precisely there that the most exciting insights are often created, enabling major decisions to be made later on.
Melodic house and techno beats for concentrated phases, but also energetic playlists with Latin vibes when things get tricky.
“Value driver”. Because in the end, it's all about finding the levers that have a real impact on the business.
“You can control numbers, but you can move people.” For me, that's exactly where the difference between work and impact lies.
Simplify and tie up loose ends to create a clean movement. It feels like a good workout: chaotic and exhausting at first, but with focus, technique, and endurance, a sense of flow suddenly emerges, and you can clearly see the path ahead.
