At Fresenius Digital Technology, we operate a global, mission-critical network infrastructure that spans WAN, LAN, MAN, internet, remote access, WiFi, data center networks, and cloud service provider environments. As we transition from traditional on-premises data centers to cloud-native architectures, we are building standardized, scalable network services in Microsoft Azure to support this evolution.

We are seeking a visionary and technically grounded leader to head our global network engineering team. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our data center and cloud connectivity strategy, with a strong focus on proactive planning, operational excellence, and secure, high-performance network design.

Your assignments

• Lead and inspire a globally distributed network engineering team, primarily based in EMEA, with a focus on data center and cloud network architecture.

• Drive the evolution from legacy data center networking to modern, cloud-integrated network services - ensuring the team adopts a proactive, automation-first mindset.

• Architect and implement robust, secure, and scalable network solutions across hybrid environments, including Azure landing zones and interconnectivity with Fresenius WAN.

• Anticipate and mitigate risks by identifying potential operational or security vulnerabilities in existing deployments and leading remediation efforts.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure network readiness for new facilities and evolving business needs.

• Champion technical standards for data center and cloud networks, including trust zone segmentation, high availability, and performance optimization.

• Own project delivery by removing blockers, managing budgets, and ensuring timely execution of complex network initiatives.

• Engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable network strategies and communicate progress transparently.

• Support escalations by providing or coordinating tier-3 expertise for critical incidents and complex problem resolution.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the team.

Your profile

• University degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience.

• 5+ years of experience leading technical teams in enterprise environments, with a strong track record in network infrastructure and data center transformation.

• Deep expertise in traditional and cloud-based network architectures, including hands-on experience with Azure networking services and hybrid connectivity.

• Proven ability to manage large-scale network projects and budgets, with a proactive approach to risk and change management.

• Preferred certifications: CCNP/CCIE, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or similar.

• Familiarity with ITIL v4 and structured service management practices.

• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a focus on developing talent and fostering innovation.

• Excellent communication skills in English and German, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
