Head of Section with Chair of Clinical Microbiology (m/f/d)

To support our team at the Institute for Medical Laboratory Diagnostics at the Wuppertal Barmen site, we are looking for a Section Head (m/f/d) "Clinical Microbiology" combined with a professorship for Clinical Microbiology at the Chair of Microbiology and Laboratory Medicine at Witten/Herdecke University as soon as possible.

• Responsibility for the development and implementation of microbiological diagnostics
• Representation and development of the field also in the field of research and teaching
• Strengthening and further developing our cutting-edge medicine
• Participation in this sense in the development of the Faculty of Health
• Strengthening existing medical priorities
• Expansion of interprofessional cooperation
• Cooperation with other professional groups as well as colleagues from other disciplines and the further development and optimization of processes

• A completed habilitation or a comparable scientific qualification that demonstrates outstanding expertise in the subject area is required as a prerequisite for appointment to the professorship
• Recognition as a specialist (m/f/d) in microbiology, virology and infection epidemiology is also required
• The applicant (m/f/d) should have demonstrable experience in the management of microbiological diagnostic laboratories and ideally have already been responsible for strategic developments of diagnostic procedures
• Outstanding scientific achievements, as evidenced by publications in renowned journals, as well as proven experience in the successful acquisition of third-party funding are also expected
• In addition, a high level of commitment to academic teaching is required. This includes not only experience with innovative teaching methods, but also a pronounced willingness to collaborate with other departments and institutions in an interdisciplinary manner
• Legally required proof of immunization against measles

The professorship is associated with the management of microbiological diagnostics within the Institute of Medical Laboratory Diagnostics (Director: Prof. Dr. Parviz Ahmad-Nejad).

The IML currently provides microbiological care to over 3,000 beds and actively participates in interdisciplinary ABS rounds. The laboratory is accredited according to DIN ISO 17025 for hygiene-relevant examinations and DIN ISO 15189 for medical diagnostics.
