Further information

The Clinic for Internal Medicine I, specializing in cardiology and nephrology, performs all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including echocardiography, cardiac catheter diagnostics, coronary interventions, PFO/ASD/LAA closures, 1-3 chamber pacemaker and ICD implantations, electrophysiological examinations and ablations as well as all common renal replacement procedures. The cardiology department operates a monitoring ward (Intermediate Care Unit/IMC or internal intensive care unit) including a Chest Pain Unit (CPU) and 24/7 PCI on-call service for the interventional treatment of acute coronary syndrome. Cardio-MRI examinations and CT coronary angiographies are carried out in cooperation with the Institute of Radiology.

The Department of Internal Medicine II, which specializes in gastroenterology/hepatology, infectiology and pneumology, has a modern endoscopy department and a gastroenterology functional laboratory (24-hour pH metry, HR manometry, respiratory gas analysis, capsule endoscopy). The sleep laboratory is attached to the pneumology department. All common diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, gall bladder and pancreas as well as respiratory organs and infectious diseases are diagnosed and treated.

The Clinic for Oncology, Hematology and Palliative Medicine focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of all hematological and oncological diseases, as well as the care of palliative care patients. All common antineoplastic, targeted, antibody and immune therapies (adjuvant, neoadjuvant and palliative), including high-dose therapies, are carried out both as inpatients and in the Hematology/Oncology MVZ. Interdisciplinary cooperation with other specialist departments at the hospital ensures optimal patient care. Interdisciplinary tumor conferences are held weekly, in which diagnostics and therapies are discussed on an interdisciplinary basis with other departments at the hospital. There is close cooperation with the in-house MVZ radiotherapy center and simultaneous radiotherapy/chemotherapy is used if indicated. With our own palliative care ward, we can offer and carry out palliative medical treatment in accordance with guidelines (psycho-oncology, pain therapy, nutritional treatment, physiotherapy, care of oncological emergencies, etc.).

The Clinic for Geriatrics and Early Rehabilitation has 60 inpatient beds spread over 3 wards and 15 day clinic places. The Clinic for Geriatrics also includes a geriatric outpatient clinic. This means that more than 1,200 geriatric patients are treated each year and 250 patients are cared for in the day clinic. Geriatric patients are treated after acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, sepsis and delayed convalescence after pneumonia, mainly as part of early geriatric rehabilitation. In addition, geriatric early rehabilitation after stroke, Parkinson's disease and dementia is carried out on our neurogeriatrics ward. Another focus is the early rehabilitation of multimorbid geriatric patients in our geriatric traumatology department following fractures with conservative and osteosynthetic treatment. In our clinic, we attach great importance to a healthy team spirit and we not only have a great deal of empathy for our elderly patients, but also for each other.
