Trainees as surgical assistants / OTAs (m/f/d)

The training to become a surgical assistant (m/f/d) (OTA for short) takes place as a 3-year dual training program.

• Innovative learning methods are used to lay the theoretical foundations in block teaching

• Theoretical training content includes, for example, hygiene in the operating theater, handling medical-technical equipment or assisting in diagnostics and therapy
• In practice, you will be supported in applying this knowledge. The training should enable you to assist doctors before, during and after a surgical procedure
• As an important part of the surgical team, you will provide support in the operating theater and in the various functional areas (e.g. outpatient clinic or endoscopy)
• Your daily tasks will include preparing patients for the procedure, providing and caring for the necessary instruments and medical devices and documenting the procedure

• At least two years of completed vocational training or extended vocational training entrance qualification or intermediate school leaving certificate (or equivalent)or (technical) university entrance qualification

• An interest in medicine and technology
• Commitment, reliability, ability to work in a team and enjoy helping people
• Strong awareness of order and cleanliness (hygienic behavior)
• Legally required proof of immunization against measles

• A varied, three-year apprenticeship

• Teamwork in an open and trusting atmosphere

• 10 modern operating theaters and a hybrid OR
• Guidance and support from experienced surgical assistants and trained healthcare and nursing staff as mentors
• Cooperative collaboration with the specialist disciplines
