Your assignments

Lead strategy development & definition for the Biosimilars Business Unit

  • Lead strategic planning process within the Biosimilars Business Unit in close collaboration with the Leadership Team and Fresenius Kabi headquarters.
  • Prepare and lead strategy and business update presentations to the Leadership team and any other governance bodies.
  • Actively monitor changes in the biosimilars business.
  • Search for benchmarks within and at the periphery of the biosimilars industry;
  • Think strategically and critically about the impact for the biosimilars industry in general and Biosimilars Business Unit in particular;
  • Drive the strategic agenda at the Leadership Team, ensure it is thinking beyond the day-to-day business;
  • Define & lead the tracking of the Biosimilars Business Unit long-term strategy implementation plan

 Lead active biosimilars portfolio management activities

  • Lead cross-functional preparations of bi-annual reviews of pipeline projects. The reviews are to include:
    1. Strategic alignment between the vision, commercial capabilities, therapeutic areas alignment, manufacturing and supply chain capabilities, development capabilities, etc.;
    2. Commercial viability, including market and competitive dynamics;
    3. Technical (clinical, regulatory, market access, CMC…) and execution risks (proper resources allocation, compliance risk, dependency risk based on partners/3rd parties…), along with mitigation options;
    4. Risk/reward profile of the portfolio.
  • Lead the exploration of new targets for biosimilars while maintaining a holistic overview of the target portfolio, including assessment of strategic alignment, commercial viability & risk management;
  • Develop, implement and nurture a cross‐Biosimilars Business Unit idea generation culture, in collaboration with Corporate’s efforts;
  • Co-lead in collaboration with the Commercial and Project Leadership Management teams the review of existing life-cycle management opportunities and the prioritization of potential new ones;
  • Co-lead in collaboration with the Business Development team the prioritization of in-licensing options to compliment, accelerate or de-risk the portfolio.

 Lead strategic fitness checks including strategy implementation roadmap definition

  • Deliver to the Leadership team quarterly cross-functional fitness checks: 
    1. Leading indicators: monitor external factors and influencers shaping the biosimilars industry
    2. Competitive mapping: monitor progresses of key competitors within biosimilars space
    3. Strategic Roadmap: define & coordinate the tracking of a rolling quarter-by-quarter 1-year strategy implementation roadmap in line with the long-term Biosimilars Business Unit strategy

Drive strategic initiatives

  • Advance the execution of the Biosimilars Business Unit strategy by leading or co-leading strategic initiatives: e.g. regional strategy, evolution of the business model, development strategy, laboratory strategy, etc.

Support Biosimilars Business Unit Ambition

  • Support and actively participate in transformational initiatives: e.g. internal/external communication of strategic ambition, culture, etc.;
  • Advises and challenges forecasting activities at the product-level;
  • Advises and challenges assessment of competitive intelligence, interlinks between individual data points;
  • Advise on M&A opportunities

Act as catalyst for cross-functional collaboration

  • Act as role model for cross-functional collaboration within the Biosimilars Business Unit;
  • Maintain high level of exposure to key Fresenius Kabi stakeholders outside the Biosimilars Business Unit.

Your profile

Education & Languages

  • Scientific education (MSc or PhD), Business school graduate with MBA from a recognized institution is a strong plus
  • Proficient English (written, oral, negotiations), French and/or German a clear plus

Professional & Technical Skills

  • Minimum 10+ years of pharma/biopharma experience in business functions
  • Experience in Portfolio Management and Strategy in pharma/biopharma companies or consulting
  • Strategic thinking, curiosity and analytical agility
  • Solid approach to problem solving based on strong business acumen
  • Ability to analyze information from various sources and convert it into compelling facts to resolve complex issues and enable decision making
  • Accountability, results oriented and able to set priorities and process multiple internal and external customer demands
  • Detailed and organized in work product and methodologies
  • Proactive in thought and action
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaboration with many diverse people across all organization levels
  • Leadership skills and experience in matrix environment
  • Communication and influencing skills, horizontal and vertical
  • Collaborative, comfortable with complexity and change environment
  • Meeting facilitation skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of his/her time
