What matters is creating the right framework conditions for greater flexibility. With the Fresenius compensatory time account, a kind of credit is built up which our employees can then use to take paid leave on a flexible basis. This allows employees to design their work life the way it best suits their personal goals.

Changes in working arrangements affect both sides —  employees and employers alike. This is why the compensatory time account was also designed as a solution which both sides contribute to: Fresenius contributes modules for pay-scale employees, and employees contribute voluntarily.

All of our pay-scale employees automatically take part in the long-term time account. Fresenius underwrites the pay-scale employee modules which lays the cornerstone for the account. Our employees can also decide for themselves whether and to what extent they want to make contributions, such as vacation days or financial co-payments.

These contributions are paid out as personal leave. As a result, people can choose to take time off work to pursue things such as professional development, taking care of a family member or making the transition into retirement smoother. In these situations, the person’s employment contract remains unaffected, and their salary will be paid out of the compensatory time account.
